Sophia Alley – “Cancer is just a chapter, my story is far from over.”

On Sunday, 7 July, Sophia Alley completed the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Durban 10K, showcasing her determination and resilience. As a CANSA Active Champion, Sophia participated in the event to raise awareness for cancer patients, while also celebrating her own journey as a cancer warrior and survivor. Her incredible spirit and commitment to the cause inspire us all to continue the fight against cancer.


Non-stop Survivors – Fighting cancer, ONE stride at a time!

Rodney Reynders, a cancer survivor, along with his wife, Barbara, twin brother, Clive, and a few very close friends, are gearing up to run the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Durban 10K on Sunday, 7 July, in support of CANSA Active. Rodney’s decision to become a CANSA Active champion is deeply personal, driven by his own cancer journey and his desire to give back.

Before I had cancer it was all about improving my time. Today I am just happy to be able to run for a cause that matters – I run for CANSA, because I am still able to make a difference through my running.

Initially I stopped running as I thought running was over for me. My husband is also part of the running since when we started. So, I went to support him at races. I continued working as well. Eventually I got tired of sitting on the side lines. I started running again for 3 weeks. By the end of August 2017 my scans were clear. I was cancer free by the Grace of God.

Crossing For CANSA

From the 20th of March 2024, Chris Sparkes and his crew set sail from Florida, United States of America, to Barcelona, Spain. They will, however, not only be navigating the waves but also embracing a unique fitness challenge: committing to one exercise rep for every nautical mile sailed. Their hope is to raise funds for CANSA’s care and support programmes as well as to inspire a global community towards daily acts of positivity…
