Zakithi Mgiliya, Hodgkins’ Lymphoma cancer Survivor and cyclist for CANSA Active in the Virgin Active SA Ride Joburg 2022, shares about her cancer journey and how cycling helped her through. “One thing I have learned from this journey is that there are a handful of things that truly matter in anybody’s life. Identify those things and enjoy them because in the twinkle of an eye, your life can flip into the unimaginable. So, live like the breath you are taking now, is your last.” 


Look Out for CANSA Active at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

CANSA is proud and thankful to be a beneficiary of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon taking place 15 – 16 October 2022. Look out for our CANSA Active stand at the Expo (DHL Cape Town Stadium), alongside Sanlam, from 13 – 15 October. The Expo will display our exciting and affordable CANSA Active merchandise and Ocean Freedom sunscreen, SunSmart choice which recently was awarded the CANSA Seal of Recognition in the protection category, will also be available. CANSA is thrilled to be manning a hydration station (Albion & Campground Road in Rondebosch). Look out for our bright, enthusiastic CANSA Active volunteers. This is a very personal cause as I am in remission three years and my mom by two months so it means the world to me.


Grey College Old Boys Do It Again for CANSA Active

On Sunday 13 March 2022, a group of 40 Grey College, Bloemfontein, old boys are riding the Cape Town Cycle Tour to create awareness and raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and Diabetes South Africa (Diabetes SA).
“We chose CANSA because various Old Grey’s, and some of their family members, are living with cancer. In 2020, Raymond van Niekerk (old Grey boy and former Global Head of Marketing for Investec) was part of our team. Raymond had stage four kidney cancer and diabetes, at the time, and finished the race on an e-bike.”
