Kamini Pather – CANSA Ambassador and Absa RUN YOUR CITY Champion
In terms of why I continue to be a supporter of cancer is that with each passing year, this silent killer is more and more intrusive. In the last five years, two women that I remember from high school, who were in my year have, died of breast cancer.
I want to raise awareness around the incredible work that CANSA does because in those moments of need, cancer Survivors need all the support that they can possibly get, CANSA is one of those avenues from which they are able to get support from.
Since the last time CANSA and I collaborated, cancer has become more and more personal. When I was a child, I think I was seven or eight, my mum’s brother passed away from cancer and it was a very long drawn-out process, something that I’ll never forget. And while I may not have had cancer, it definitely does make an impression. And not a good one.
CANSA really does incredible work and I am just grateful that I’m able to use my voice to be able to support their cause.
