Making Waves for CANSA: Sue Ridder and Karen Jankelow Take on the aQuellé Midmar 8 Mile Charity Challenge
Sue Ridder and Karen Jankelow are diving in for a cause close to their hearts as they take on the aQuellé Midmar 8 Mile Charity Challenge in support of CANSA Active. Their journey is more than just a test of endurance—it’s a heartfelt mission to raise awareness for those affected by cancer. Sue has shared their story with CANSA, highlighting why this challenge holds deep personal meaning for them. With every stroke, they are making a difference, honouring loved ones, and bringing hope to those on their cancer journey.
“Karen and I have been swimming partners for four years now and swimming has been a transformative experience for both of us. It has carried us through some of the darkest times of our lives , giving us purpose and strength. Together we have loved our open water swimming adventures which include; two Robben Island Crossings, Cape Point Crossing, 15km Krom River Crossing and the 12km Laangebaan Lagoon Crossing.
The reason we have signed up to swim for CANSA is that it is a cause close our our hearts. Cancer affects so many lives and we both have had close friends and family who have personally battled this disease. Whilst we cannot take away the pain of what people with cancer are going through, we can help by raising awareness and challenging ourselves to make a small difference in this world.
We are excited to be part of this team and look forward to swimming our first 8 Mile for CANSA Active.”
