Sun City Cycle4CANSA Scheduled for 10-11 October 2020!

Sun City has given the green light for the staging of the Sun City Cycle4CANSA over the weekend of 10-11 October this year – Covid 19 regulations permitting.

South Africa’s largest weekend cycling festival would have taken place on 22-23 August, but the original staging was postponed due to Covid 19.

The new date in late spring is set to attract a full house with more riders getting back to fitness in October, compared to the much colder late August date.

The new date will be good news for a vast number of riders who don’t fancy training through winter, and who will now be able to get into shape for the iconic event on its later date.

Entries are open and the organisers have decided to keep the discounted early bird entry fees in place until the end of July.

Bookings at Sun City are open, and riders can go to www.cansalostcity.co.za to view preferential accommodation packages over the weekend.

Riders will pay the following early bird discounted fees until the end of July 2020:
Road Classic Early Bird Entry Fees:
103km Road: R333
70km Road: R252
10km Road: R72
MTB Classic Early Bird Entry Fees:
70km MTB – R333
50km MTB – R252
25km MTB – R198
10km MTB – R72

Fast and Flat!
103km – 70km – 10km! Saturday, 10 October 2020 is reserved for mountain-bikers with a brand new 70km MTB option, while road cyclists are catered for on Sunday, 11 October 2020, in the Cycle4CANSA Road Classic.

The race has seen thousands of cyclists over the years achieve their personal best in a 100km event, courtesy of the flat and fast route, and this contributes massively to the popularity of the race.

Safety Awareness Drive
The organisation annually launches a significant awareness drive within local communities to decrease traffic volumes on race day. This is done through local schools, media outlets, municipal communication and through the race’s long-standing relationship with the Royal Bafokeng Nation and taxi associations.

Motorists Road-Blocks Implemented this Year
The organisation also engages with local mines to ensure mine trucks don’t run on race day and 2020 will see the implementation of metro police roadblocks on all route access points. These initiatives minimise concerns around route and traffic control and enhance safety on the route, courtesy of a low volume traffic environment and large police and marshal presence.

Improve Your Cycle Tour Seeding
The Cycle4CANSA Road Classic is a premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour and the event has become famous for offering a fun-filled family day with loads of prizes, competitions and activities.

Free Access to Valley of Waves and the Maze
All cyclists on both days gain free access to Sun City, the Valley of Waves as well as the Maze of the Lost City and the SA Sports Hall of Fame on race day. Entries are also accompanied by various promotional freebees.

The Most Beautiful Mtb Race
The Cycle4CANSA MTB Classic is one of the most beautiful races in South Africa and it’s move to late spring will be good news for mountain-bikers who don’t fancy training through winter.

The existing Saturday route options are steadily growing in numbers courtesy of continued route development, and the event is now set for major growth with the addition of a 70km marathon race.

The extended single track in the Letsatsing Game Reserve is now coupled with wonderful new trails around both golf courses and has assisted in elevating the status of the MTB Classic to that of a quintessential off-road biking experience.

Safe and Secure Parking and lots of Entertainment
The casino resort offers convenient and safe parking as well as a variety of family entertainment options once the racing is done, including free entry into the Valley of Waves.
