MTB Route Boost for 21st Cycle4CANSA

Vast sections of the Lost City golf course as well as the Gary Player course and some new trails inside the Letsateng Game Reserve have been made available to the Bestmed Cycle4Cansa MTB Championship, which takes place at Sun City on 25 August this year.

The Cycle4Cansa MTB event is part of the Bestmed Cycle4Cansa weekend cycling festivities, which take place on 25 and 26 August.

“Our event survey year on year shows that riders really love the fast and flowing golf course sections, so we approached Sun City management about this at the start of the year and we’re thankful that they have obliged,” said race organiser Mauritz Meyer.

The route will also use more terrain inside the Letsateng Game Reserve and avoid the 4km section on the other side of the main road opposite Sun City. Some riders commented in the past on the monotony of this section, but it was an unavoidable link in the 25km circuit.

With more of Letsateng in the mix as well as the golf courses, this section has been thrown out.

Distances on offer are 25km and 50km and all riders receive free entry into the Valley of Waves on race day.

Riders can enter on-line at www.cansalostcity.co.za.

The Sunday’s Road Classic offers distances of 103km and 70km.

The road race route is fast and flat and received stunning feedback following the return to the traditional route in 2016. Because it takes place on the Sunday the roads were quiet and perfectly suited to present a mass participation race in safe surroundings.

The Bestmed Cycle4Cansa Road Championship is a premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour and the event has to date raised in excess of R3.6 Million for the Cancer Association of South Africa.

The casino resort offers convenient and safe parking as well as a variety of family entertainment options once the racing is done, including free entry into the Valley of Waves.
