Old Mutual and Edenglen Cycling Club Presents – Paint The Cradle Pink Cycling Event

On Sunday the 1st October 2023 Edenglen Cycling Club (EGCC) – a community based club serving the cycling communities of greater Edenvale / Bedfordview / Dowerglen / Greenstone – hosted a ride for cancer awareness in the Cradle of Humankind.

What began as a simple conversation between friends, who were particularly concerned about a family member who had been diagnosed with cancer, suddenly mushroomed into an amazing event which epitomises the camaraderie and spirit among the cycling fraternity.

This event was unique and one of a kind in that there were no entry fees charged and the only criteria to ride was basically pitching up and wearing something pink. The overarching goal was obviously to create awareness that cancer can be beaten by early screening and to boost the coffers of CANSA (who do amazing work).

The success of the ride can never be overstated with huge numbers turning out to support and just enjoy the social outing with friends. Pink was resplendent everywhere.

This year we intend to go bigger, better and give even more generously – the event is a free to ride event and last year catered for + 200 riders. Our targeted amount to be raised on the day is R100 000.

Help us reach our target for CANSA by joining us on Sunday 6 October 2024.
